In Medicine I am an alienist. And in Psychiatry – and psychiatrists were called alienists – I am still an alienist.
Saicho (766-822), the Japanese founder of the Tendai school, taught of the Buddhahood of all phenomena. Whenever I photograph, I seek the Buddhahood of the subject, whatever it may appear to be.
Dr. Diamond’s poetry contains some of his most profound and personal statements. Teeming with insight, wisdom, and compassion, and infused with a deep spirituality, each of the poems on these recordings is a gem, written with the specific intention of raising the Life Energy of the listener. They focus on themes central to Dr. Diamond’s work: health, healing, philosophy, the Arts, love and much more. The potential for recorded music to be healing is so much greater with loudspeakers than with headphones, for with headphones the air does not dance. Better still is music live, for then you can relate to the performer.

When I grew up, the trams in Sydney were double-ended, the unoccupied driver’s compartment at the rear. One morning three of us medical students – Kurt Wolf, older, worldly-wise, Morrie Rosenberg and me – were in a car behind a tram with a view of the rear compartment. In it we could see a couple – also medical students we knew. And were they ever billing and cooing!
