Commentary: Eleanor Farjeon was an English author of children’s stories, plays, poetry, biography, history and satire. She is perhaps best known for celebrated Christian hymn Morning Has Broken. “The Tide in the River” is from her collection of children’s poetry, Silver-Sand and Snow, published in 1951.
