“A Tree’s Power Revealed in Winter”
In the tenth century, Li Cheng wrote in his On the Secrets of Landscape Painting that “the winter trees are resigned and deathlike.”[1]
No! That’s when their real Truth is revealed: their Strength, their Power. Their Spirit.
It is then that they, unmuffled, sing so Deep and Pure.
Summer trees dance,
but winter trees Sing.
