Imagine that streaming into and out from your umbilicus is a chakra of the highest Energy, of the purest Love. Tightly concentrated, little thicker than a pencil. Rich, strong, radiant gold. Not just the color of gold – but gold itself transcending its physical substrate.

This was the highest link, the spiritual, between you and your mother. The umbilical cord was not only tissue and blood, but also this gold of Love.

The cord long cut, the placenta expelled, both discarded, and your umbilicus now only a vestige – but until you both are dead, the union, the yoga, of gold still unites you. The golden liquor always flows.

And it relates not just to the child and his mother, but also to her mother, and hers and hers, back down the generations.

It is the purest Love – the Maternal Instinct devoid of any misprocessing – of all the past mothers streaming into your mother and then into you.

It is the Love of all your mother ancestors. The gold of Ancestral Love.

There is a meditation I recommend to help the sufferer feel this Love. It uses a Russian toy of mother nesting dolls, known as a Matryoshka: a hollow egg-shaped carving of a mother which opens to reveal an identical smaller mother inside, which opens to reveal a smaller one inside, and so on.
I ask the sufferer to hold it, her, between his hands. To look at it, into it, intently, deeply. This is your mother’s mother. Now open it – this is your mother inside her. Now open her – this is you inside your mother. Babies and mothers down the generations – down to you. The Maternal Instinct cascading down.

I also teach him an affirmation using whatever name he had for his mother and hers when young. Such as “Mummy and Nanna and me.”

And now, at last, he feels the Love. The golden cord of Ancestral Mother Love.
