“The Balance Between Reading and Meditation”
The wise Neo-Confucian Zhu Hsi (1130-1200) would recommend half a day reading and the other half quietly sitting.
Well, my reading’s far ahead of my quiet sitting. I’ve read all my life and meditated much less than half.
It’s time I restored the balance.
Don’t read – just sit quietly and They will give you what you need to know.
And perhaps it was Zhu Hsi who gave this thought to me now.
