By Thy Grace I Realize My Light
By thy Grace,
I realize my Light,
and vanished at last
my illusion.
Free from all fear,
firm in my faith,
I am surrendered
to You.
[Haiku]
By thy Grace,
surrendered to you.
[Haiku of the haiku]
By You.
– Adapted from the Bhagavad Gita
Sung by Susan Diamond
Commentary: The words are adapted by Diamond from end of the classic Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita (he based his version on the Penguin translation by Juan Mascaró, which he particularly admired; the passage is from Arjuna’s final speech [Pt 18, 73]). It is a powerful example of the type of song he used for meditation, and is recommended for this purpose. It was composed c. 2013
Note that both the recording and sheet music end with the song’s “haiku,” using only its beginning and end. This essentialized form is intended raise the Life Energy of the singer even more than the original. This is followed by the “haiku of the haiku,” i.e., the start and finish of the haiku itself, essentializing the song even more. The haikus can be sung after the full version of the song (as they are on the recording), or independently.
