Jackson Pollock proclaimed: “I don’t use the accident – I deny the accident.”
Every drip, every dribble, every splash he believed came from him, not through him. Thus he believed that there were no accidents to deny. And yet every event, to us, is an accident.
Perhaps, had he so believed, he would have lived – and painted – happier, and longer.
