“Grateful Thoughts on Tolstoy’s ‘The Kingdom of God is Within You'”
This is how Tolstoy ends his great philosophical treatise The Kingdom of God is Within You:
“The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity by contributing to the establishment of the kingdom of God, which can only be done by the recognition and profession of the truth by every man [:] ‘… behold, the kingdom of God is within you.’ (Luke XVII. 20, 21.)”
A few grateful thoughts:
To serve humanity by giving (Yi) our humanity (Jen).
Our first God is our mother – all Beyond her only our imagination.
The kingdom of God within me is my Soul (my Jen) that I Know (Zhi) as her Soul.
To gratefully serve humanity from my Soul as my mother’s.
I rest all of my work
on what could be called
a personification,
a domestication,
of “the kingdom of God.”
