“All Our Civilization Needs…”
The work of the great, though underappreciated, psychoanalyst, philosopher and writer George Frankl (1921-2004) boils down to just two basic principles:
1. All children are born loving, and
2. Human nature is essentially good.
I could quibble a little as to whether the child is born already in fear, but I do sincerely believe – who could doubt it? – that the fetus is love.
And so is the mother.
All that our civilization needs – and it does need it increasingly desperately – is for the pregnant mother to so see her baby – and herself.
And this she will when she so sees her own mother.
